Government approves subsidies of 424 million euro for farmers and 173 million euro for heating assistance

The Romanian Government decided on Wednesday to provide 424 million euro to cover subsidies for farmers in autumn 2009. „The money are borrowed from Treasury and will return to Treasury once the EU provides the amount”, PM Emil Boc said. He added that another 42 million euro will be provided for diesel subsidies and 137 million for heating assistance to poor families during November 2009-December 2010.

He added that the money would be available once the government decision is published in the Official Gazette.
