Investments in Romania dropped by 16.7% in the first quarter of the year, compared to the similar period, last year to 27.06 billion lei, Romania’s National Statistics Institute reads. In the second quarter of the year, investments dropped by 20.0%. I
nvestments in construction sites totaled 14.03 billion lei, a 3.2% decrease than in the first six months of 2008, while investments in cars, including public transports cars dropped by 33.5% to 10.69 billion lei. Other investment spending increased by 12.7% compared to the first quarter of 2008 at 2.34 billion lei.
The structure of investment activities, per sectors, reveals that 40.7% of the total number of investments was made in industry, and 39.2% in commerce and services.
