Romania takes supplementary border surveillance and control measures as NATO summit gets near
Romanian Customs Police apply starting with March 1 a set of supplementary surveillance and control measures at its borders, to avoid any unfortunate event that might affect the safety of the NATO Summit participants on April 4-6 this year. Customs officers will carefully analyze every person who enters the country, transportation vehicles and all their goods complying to European norms and regulations in the sector.
Head of Customs Officers, Ioan Handra has told Romanian public radio that more personnel will work at the borders, to be more efficient. Romanian authorities recommend people to use any route entering the country, but to try to avoid those that are usually crowded.
Romania will host some 6500 foreigners among which, 3500 are journalists during the NATO Summit on April 2-4.
