HotNews.ro

Russians might be involved in the assassination of former KGB agent and critic towards Kremlin officials, Aleksandr Litvinenko, a British secret service representative declared during the Newsnight BBC show on Monday night, Romanian news agency Mediafax informs.

The accusations arise in the same day in which British PM Gordon Brown met his Russian counterpart, Dmitri Medvedev for the first time since Medvedev took over the Russian presidency. The two officials met in an attempt to break the tensions between the two countries since Aleksandr Litvinenko was murdered in 2006.

Russian officials however, deny any involvement in the murder and refuse to cooperate with their British counterparts. Moreover, Russia refuses to expatriate Andrei Lugovoy, suspected by the British of having poisoned Litvinenko.
