Bundestag vice president accuses Romanian Government and Parliament of populist actions
German Bundestag’s vice president, Susanne Kastner (Social Democrat) accused the Romanian Government and Parliament of adopting populist measures, pointing at the controversial 50% wage increase for teachers, NewsIn informs. Kastner made the statements during her visit to the Romanian city of Cluj, where she met the Democrat-Liberal mayor, Emil Boc.
According to Kastner, the wage growth should be decided after the elections, in a calm climate. „You can’t promise what you can’t pay”, said the official. „It is normal for all other branches to demands their rights after the teachers got the 50% wage increase”, said Kastner.
The German official also emphasized that the populist measures lead not only to economic problems, but also to the loss of confidence people have in politicians.
