Former National Romanian Railway Company director investigated by anti-graft prosecutors
Former National Romanian Railway Company director Mihai Necolaiciuc has been brought to court by anti-graft prosecutors for abuse in office contrary to public interests, a press release of the National Anti Graft Department reads.
Prosecutors claim that, between 2002 and 2003, Mihai Necolaiciuc signed 23 public tender orders for railway installations to SC GENERAL COM ELECTRICA SA Bucharest, breaching legal norms and not being able to provide documents to attest the necessity and the opportunity of the acquisition.
Plus, prosecutors claim that the supplier was not authorized by the National Railway Authority and orders were signed without any compliance to public tender norms or any other contracts required by law.
Necolaiciuc allegedly signed a contract worth 55.67 billion Romanian Lei (old currency) illegally for the purchase of useless products at a price well above the market one. Prosecutors also accuse some other subordinates who worked with Necolaiciuc.
Necolaiciuc is accused of having done exactly the same with other acquisitions, this time from SC NURELOR PREST COM SRL Targu Jiu, and caused the Agency a prejudice amounting to 61,90 billion Romanian Lei (old currency).
Bucharest District 1 Court judges issued a national, European and international arrest warrant on Necolaiciuc’s name.
