Holland labor market still closed for Romanians
The Dutch Parliament opposes a Government proposal to open up the labor market for both Romanian and Bulgarian workers after 2009, ANP press agency informs, quoted by Romanian news agency NewsIn. Until 2009 Romanians and Bulgarians wishing to work there need to obtain a legal working permit.
Social Affairs Minister was planning to open discussions on opening up the market in May 2008, as soon as a report evaluating the work force needed in the country is scheduled. However, all political parties refuse to set the subject on the agenda.
Several townships and cities in Holland have complained that Eastern European immigrants fail to integrate in the society. Amsterdam city announced that it would impose immigrants living in the same neighbourhood to move, so as to spread them all over the city.
Some 100,000 Eastern European workers – the majority of which from Poland presently work in Holland.
