Romania general elections: Partial results – Social Democrats return to top at slight advantage against Democratic Liberals
Romania’s Central Electoral Office announced on Monday afternoon the partial results after counting 92.73% of votes registered in general elections on Sunday. After Democratic Liberals (PD-L) came second in exit polls last night, they toppled the Social Democrats (PSD) when some 70% of the votes had been counted this morning, but in the arly afternoon PSD returned to the front, but at a very slight advantage of under 1%.
Liberals (PNL) and Hungarian Democrats (UDMR) remained third and fourth in voters preferences.
National level results:
- House of Deputies: PSD – 33%, PDL – 32.57%, PNL – 18.32%, UDMR – 6.29%
- Senate: PSD – 33.99%, PDL – 33.79%, PNL – 18.49%, UDMR – 6.54%
All other parties, including the far-right Greater Romania Party (PRM) and the populist New Generation Party (PNG) received under 5% of the votes at national level.
Results for Bucharest with 99.83% of votes counted:
SENATE
- PDL – 38.34%
- PSD+PC – 34.84%
- PNL – 15.52%
- PNG – 5%
HOUSE OF DEPUTIES:
- PDL – 37.52%
- PSD+PC – 33.44%
- PNL – 15.85%
- PNG – 4.93%
