Romanian jazz star Anca Parghel dies aged 51
One of Romania’s greatest voices, jazz singer Anca Parghel, died this morning, after more than one year of fighting an advanced stage of womb cancer. After the conventional therapy failed, Anca Parghel unsuccessfully alternative medicine in the Nova Vita clinic in Belgrade.
Born in 1957, in Campulung Moldovenesc, Anca Parghel taught canto in the Suceava High-School, the Bucharest Conservatory, then in Bruges and Namur (Belgium), Hannover and Ravensburg (Germany), the Conservatory schools in Leipzig, Munich and Oldenburg), in the UK (Silsoe and Cleolaine Workshops) and the Moldova Republic.
Starting in 1984, Anca Parghel participated in numerous jazz festivals in Europe, sharing the stage with top musicians such as Johnny Raducanu, Mircea Tiberian, Garbis Dedeian, Billy Hart, Archie Shepp, Larry Coryell, Jean-Louis Rassinfosse, Phillipp Catherine, Marc Levine, Claudio Roditi, Thomas Stanko, Ricardo Del Fra, Stephane Galland, Jon Hendricks Band or Klaus Ignatzek.
