Schools to shut down for a week if at least 3 swine flu cases are recorded
The students attending schools where at least a minimum of three swine flu cases will be recorded will be sent home to avoid virus spreading, the Romanian Health Ministry announced. On the other hand, if one single infection case is confirmed in a classroom, all students will take seven free days and will be isolated.
The measures are part of the special monitoring, prevention and action plan in the case of A/H1N1 infection, devised by the Romanian Health Ministry. Minister Ion Bazac said the spread of the flu must be kept under control by December, when the vaccine is expected.
- Each education institution will have a Flu committee responsible for informing parents and students on flu prevention, monitoring and symptoms. They will also decide the appropriate time to take action.
- The schools are compelled to keep daily records on the students’ health. Any suspicion will be looked at by the school doctor or by the GP serving the area where the school is located. In the case of an infection, the county hospital will be announced and measures will be taken.
- Any teacher showing flu symptoms must report them immediately and be consulted by a doctor for a diagnosis.
