All newspapers on Tuesday read about the death of four Romanians in a car crash in Hungary. Elsewhere in the news, EC ceased payments for Romania for improving infrastructure. The governing coalition negotiates at the Presidential headquarters the territorial reorganization project. At only 26, Alexandra Nechita, the little Picasso has paintings in hundreds of museums in the world. Labour costs in Romania, the third based on the increase of labor costs in Q1 in the EU.

All newspapers on Tuesday read about a deadly accident in Hungary leaving 4 Romanians dead and another 23 injured after the bus they were travelling with collided with a truck. Gandul reads that the accident took place at around 6 AM Romanian time nearby Slovenia. Passengers in the bus were returning from Italy.

Two Romanian drivers and two passengers lost their lives in the collision. Elsewhere in the news, Gandul reads that the European Commission ceased payments for regional infrastructure development projects. Contacted by the newspaper, Tourism and Regional Development Minister Elena Udrea said that European authorities signaled problems in three counties at four contracts and Romanian authorities were asked to investigat and make the necessary financial modifications.

If irregularities will be found, the money will be paid by local authorities, the minister said. She said that after the approval of the projects, the money leave the ministry towards local authorities, beneficiaries that organize public tenders. She said that in many cases local authorities have no experience in organizing local tenders or the tenders are visibly directed towards certain companies.

In the same time, EC requested an improvement for the management and control system of public procurements. President Traian Basescu declared on May 26 that there were some controls at some local projects financed from EU money and there were irregularities found, which means the money could be returned. He said that there are implementation problems in such projects which is not normal and we need to stop if this trend continues.

Evenimentul Zilei announces the negotiations at the Presidency on the project of Romania’s territorial reorganization with the governing coalition. This will be an important step in talks on the project, the newspaper reads quoting Democratic Liberal members. Democratic Liberals said that they are open and honest with their governing partners, the Hungarian Democrats and are doing everything they can to seek a common solution.

The newspaper reads that a postponement of talks on the matter is not an option in PDL. However, Hungarian Democratic leaders said that they would prefer for talks to be postponed for at least a year until a political consensus is reached within the coalition.

On a lighter tone, Evenimentul Zilei reads about Alexandra Nechita, named the little Picasso who, at 26 years old has paintings across 100 museums in the world from the Vatican’s art collection to private collections of Oprah Winfrey, Calvin Klein, Whoopi Goldberg or David Letterman.

In an interview for the newspaper, Alexandra talks about her paintings and her wishes to come to Romania. These days some of her paintings can be admired in Romania, at the National Museum of Romanian literature in Bucharest. The nine paintings were donated by the painter for a charitable auction organized tomorrow by the Nadia Comaneci Foundation and Ara Art auction house.

Romania libera reads that Romania occupies the third position in a EU top on increases of labour costs in the first quarter of the year. The increase was 4.5% compared to the similar period of last year and to a EU average of 2.7% according to data released on Monday by Eurostat, the EU statistics institute. The biggest increases in Romania were registered in the service sector while the least increase was registered in constructions. Services registered a 5.3% increase of total costs and salary costs while other costs increased by 5.2%.
