Kosovo Foreign Affairs minister: we urge the states who did not acknowledge our independence to take steps in this direction
Kosovo’s Foreign Affairs minister, Skender Hyseni urged states that postponed the acknowledgement of Kosovo as an independent state until the Hague Court will rule to take steps in this direction, a press release of the institution reads. Romania, together with Spain or Russia is one of the countries that did not acknowledge the new state and the International Court of Justice decided on Thursday, July 22nd that Kosovo’s independence proclamation does not breach international law.
Kosovo was always a special case, and the Court admitted that it did not set a precendent through its move, Skender said. It is clear that the region has every interest to see Kosovo independent, he added. He said that Kosovo is ready to cooperate and discuss with any of its neighbours, including Serbia in order to develop good bilateral relations.
