Plane crashes in Afghanistan with 43 people on board

A Pamir Airways commercial aircraft, carrying 43 people on board (38 passengers and five crew members) has crashed today, May 17, in a mountainous region in North Afghanistan, AFP informs. The plane was flying from Northern Province Kunduz on route to Kabul, when it crashed in the Hundu Kush mountains region. The cause of the accident is not known so far. Several rescue teams were sent to the area to search for survivors.

According to the Afghan Interior Ministry representatives, there were several foreign citizens among the Afghan passengers.

Pamir Airways was set up in May 1995 and it is the oldest Afghan private air company.
