The second wave of a volcanic ash cloud coming from Iceland towards Europe is on its way but chances are it would avoid Romania, according to the country’s chief meteorologist, Ion Sandu, quoted by Romanian news agency Mediafax. Sandu said the second wave of ash would be smaller than the first which brought European air transportation to a halt. But he said it may flow at a lower altitude.
Ion Sandu said official data about the second wave have yet to be sent by the European body responsible with such issues, but that its route was clear that it was on its way to Europe.
But he said that there were Mediterranean currents going North which may push the second wave in the same direction, meaning that the wave might avoid Romania.
