Controversial law allowing political appointments in decentralized institutions is unconstitutional

Some of the rulings on the controversial law to modify and ad-notate law number 188/1999 on the statute of public servants (especially those allowing political appointments in decentralized institutions) were declared unconstitutional on Wednesday by the Constitutional Court, Romanian news agency Agerpres informs.
The law was meant to modify the statute of public servants was adopted last month by the Chamber of Deputies and the Social Democrats and the Liberal announced that they will contest the law to the Constitutional Court.
In 2009, the Court declared unconstitutional the government’s ordinance to name on political grounds all heads of decentralized institutions.
