EC Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos signals Romania's problems in accessing EU funds but does not threaten with blockages
European Commissioner for Agriculture, Dacian Ciolos sent an official letter to Romania in which he underlines the importance to remedy the deficiencies in accessing EU funds in agriculture. The letter is technical, normal for the correspondence between EC and a EU member state. The letter does not threaten to block funds for agriculture.
The letter underlines that there are still unresolved problems that are the concern of the Commission and the Commissioner alike. The letter was sent on February 16 and reads that it is important for Romania to implement the action plan initiated last year.
According to the Romanian resort ministry, the letter was sent as a reaction to the last quarterly 2009 report in which it was clear that Romania exceeded some deadlines initially assumed. However, the letter reads that Romania needs to implement the action plan in time and correctly.
