Turnout in presidential elections at 9 pm – 56.99%, bigger than in the first round
The turnout in Romania’s presidential elections at the close of the polls, namely 9 pm, was 56.99%. In the first round at the same time, there have been 53.52% of the electorate had cast their vote. The first results will be made public on Monday morning, at 8 o’clock. (local time).
54.72% of the voters attended the elections in the urban areas and 60.11% – in the rural area. The counties with the highest numbers of voters are Ilfov 69.50%, Mehedinti 66.95%, Teleorman 66.70%, Dambovita 66.32% and Olt 64.46%. The weakest turnout was recorded in Harghita 36.98%, Covasna 37.61%, Satu Mare 41.83%, Vaslui 50.13% and Maramures 50.80%. In Bucharest, over half of the population – 54.90% – came at the polls.
In the 3,359 special voting sections 617,135 people expressed their vote, most of them in Timis, Cluj, Ilfov, Dolj and Iasi.
