Journalist Catalin Tolontan published in his blog an interview with Mircea Geoana, one of the candidates standing for president which the candidate gave for a sports newspaper, Gazeta Sporturilor and for readers of the journalists’ site. Geoana announced that it is possible that all files instrumented against former PM Adrian Nastase are political and that he will not change the anti-graft chief Daniel Morar but that he will change Romania’s general prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi, in case he wins elections.
Here are some fragments from his interview:
- Daniel Morar has a mandate at the anti-graft department and I do not intend to intervene in any way. However, Romania’s general prosecutor was contested by the Superior Council of Magistracy and therefore I intend to fire her if I become President.
