Liberal-democrats: Mircea Geoana needs to quit the Senate's leadership since he chose to run for presidency

HotNews.ro

The Liberal-Democratic Party (PDL) requests the social-democratic leader Mircea Geoana to show „responsibility” and quit the Senate’s leadership because he chose to run for Romania’s presidency. PDL fears that the Senate’s speaker risks being suspected by the public opinion that he would use political resources in his electoral campaign, Romanian press agency NewsIn informs.

„We understand the ingrate situation Mircea Geoana, the Senate’s speaker but also PDS candidate for presidency elections this year, is in. He is also is suspected by the public opinion to make use of his public role for electoral purposes. The Public Policy Institute already took notice of this issue and suggested the PSD candidate for presidential election to submit his resignation from the Senate’s leadership”, a PDL report informs.

PDL recalls the fact that Kelemen Hunor, the candidate of the Hungarian party from Romania (UDMR), and Crin Antonescu – the liberal candidate for Romania’s presidency, resigned from their parliamentary role.
