Trade union leader: Starting next year, low salaries will rise and high salaries will be capped
Small salaries in Romania are due to rise next year, while high salaries will be capped, Bogdan Hossu, leader of the Cartel Alfa trade union organization, has told HotNews.ro. The Romanian government analyzed on Thursday several scenarios to apply a single salarisation framework law.
All variants discussed eye a reduction of the GDP percentage allocated to salaries from 9.4% in 2009 to 6% in 2015, according to a governmental press release.
Bogdan Hossu says the reduction would not mean a cut in salary funds, but only the percentage of the GDP they represent, as the GDP is expected to increase until 2015.
According to Hossu, a freeze of the minimum salary may be discussed, but maintaining the minimum salary at its current level would not have a positive effect on the economy as the „current [economic] crisis is a consumption crisis”.
