Romania ranked 6 in top commercial deficit in the EU, after the first five monehts of 2009
Romania was classed on 6 in a top EU commercial deficit, with a high commercial deficit of 3.7 billion euro, the European statistics office Eurostat reveals, quoted by Romanian news agency NewsIn. Romania’s commercial deficit decreased by 2.5 times in January – May compared to the similar period, last year as imports dropped by 36% and exports decreased by 21% compared to the first five months of 2008.

The highest commercial deficits were registered in the first five months in Great Britain with 38 billion euro, France with 24.4 billion euro, Spain with 20.7 billion euro, Greece with 11.6 billion euro and Portugal with 6.8 billion euro.
EU exports to other non EU member states dropped in June by 0.3% compared to May, to 87.7 billion euro and important dropped by 1.4% to 95.3 billion euro. Thus, the commercial deficit tempered at 7.7 billion euro from 8.8 billion euro in the previous month, Eurostat data shows.
