Romanian insurance market grows 1.46% in Q1 2009

The insurance market in Romania grew by only 1.46% in the first quarter of 2009 as compared to a year ago as the life insurance segment dropped 5.91%, according to provisional data provided by the Insurance Supervisory Commission.

Also in Q1 2009, the number of renewed and new compulsory insurance contracts dropped 2%.

In Q1 a year ago, the general and life insurance market had growned 16.8% as compared to the previous year.
