President Traian Basescu to address the Parliament on foreign affairs
Romania’s President Traian Basescu will adress the Parliament on Tuesday at 5pm on current foreign affairs issues, a press release of the presidency reads. For this purpose, Basescu sent, on Thursday an official letter to both Speakers of the Parliament.
Basescu’s speech comes after relations with Republic of Moldova are very tense after the anti-Communist protests in Chisinau and the Communist’s victory in the April 5 Legislative elections. Plus, Romania’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova was declared persona non grata and was expelled. What is more, currently, Romanians need a visa to enter Moldova.
Moldova’s President, Vladimir Voronin declared last week that Romania is involved in all his country’s events. He explained that Romania’s influence is significant and that Romanian special services were identified.
