Former PM Adrian Nastase runs for Social Democratic leadership
Former Prime Minister Adrian Nastase submitted his candidacy today for Head of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) National Council gathering that will take place on Friday, Romanian news agency NewsIn informs. Nastase would return within the party leadership after three years.
Nastase announced several months ago he wished to run for a higher function within the party. Last week, Nastase was delegated to write, together with the current Head of the National Council, Dan Mircea Popescu the party’s electoral offer as Romania faces local and general elections this year.
Nastase, who led the PSD during his stay as prime minister of Romania in 2000-2004, has been removed from top party functions for the past several years as his name was involved in several corruption cases.
