Govt takes over bird flu situation from Agriculture Ministry

Romanian PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu announced a series of measure for fighting the spread of bird flu virus, to be implemented by a special body that is from today subordinated to the Government and not any longer to the Agriculture Ministry.

The move will increase the responsibilities of the officials dealing with the virus, and only two persons will be allowed to official inform on the evolution of the virus, a representative from the National Veterinary Authority and the Health Ministry.
