The National Anti-Corruption Department (DNA) in Bucharest confirmed on Wednesday that Romanian prosecutors have launched criminal investigations on the names of two army generals and other 13 officers for abuse in office with grave consequences.

They are suspected of producing a 3 million euro prejudice to the state budget by manipulating a tender for the procurement of textiles for military uniforms.

The investigation on the names of general ® Maciuca Marin and general ® Tilinca Adrian of the Joint Logistical Commandment of the General Staff was launched on March 22-23 this year, according to the DNA.

They and the other 13 officers are suspected of breaching their duties in September 2003-February 2004 when a tender was organized and concluded with a contract with German company Texplorer GmbH for the procurement of Ripstop textiles.
