As Spain construction sector falls, Romanians fall short of jobs

HotNews.ro

As the pace of economic growth in Spain slowed down and its construction sector is in trouble, Romanian workers there have a hard time finding jobs. According to the national jobs institute in Spain quoted by the Romanian public radio, the number of Romanian unemployed in Spain grew to 13,000.

Romanians are the second largest community in Spain after Moroccans with over 600,000 people registered legally. According to local authorities, most unemployed come from the constructions sector, where some 200 thousands people might lose their jobs.

In these conditions, Spanish authorities search for solutions to cater for the needs of unemployed immigrants: they will receive the unemployment payments in one installment and will have special micro-credits to be able to start a business on their own.
