Car dealer received largest fine for spam in Romania: 10,000 RON
The number of fines for unsolicited electronic messages (spam) increased exponentially in 2008. In January 2009, a car dealer received the largest fine up to this moment, 10,000 RON (some 2,600 Euros), said Liviu Nistoran, head of the Telecom Authority (ANC), for Hotnews.ro. In March 2008, the credit recovery company „Urban si Asociatii” was fines for e-mail spam, while the telecom giant Vodafone was fines in 2007 for text message spam on mobile phones.
The ANC president refused to offer any further details, mentioning that a detailed situation on the evolution of spamming will be presented next week.
