Chief anti-graft prosecutor Daniel Morar: I want another term in office

HotNews.ro

Romania’s chief anti-graft prosecutor Daniel Morar declared in the weekly HotNews – BBC debate that he would like to receive another term in office from the Justice ministry. Morar said he would like to continue his work in the institution especially that he would know how to deal with the reform within the institution he ran for three years now.

One of the most important points of the discussion was the decision of the Parliament to allow anti-graft prosecutors to investigate high corruption cases. He declared that if the files are blocked in the Parliament, he would not have any legal means to deal with the situation.

Moreover, he declared that an investigation could be started in 5, 10 or 20 years if the Parliament approves. He added that any prosecutors who will take up the case will not be affected by the amount of time that has passed. What is more, this might also help investigators: if high officials will no longer work in the Parliament, prosecutors will no longer need the approval of the Parliament.
