The American company Colgate – Palmolive located in Brasov, central Romania will end its production by mid December when the last stage of lay-offs will be activated. The entire production will move to Poland.
The first stage of lay-offs employees in Brasov started on September 15 and regarded 28 employees. However, by mid December all 290 employees will remain unemployed and will receive a compensation salary.
Moreover, the company’s representative declared that the building and the terrain will be put for sale immediately. The Brasov factory will be shut down due to a complex restructuring plan regarding the global re-organization and a consolidation process.
The company announced that even though it will sell its factory in Brasov, they will continue their activity on the Romanian market, since Colgate holds one of the top positions on the market. Colgate Palmolive entered the market in 1992 together with Norvea. Colgate took over the Brasov factory 16 years ago.
