Emergency ordinance: Private TV and Radio channels are forced to offer presidential candidates free time
Private TV and Radio channels are forced by law to give presidential candidates free space or face penalties, an emergency ordinance announces. The space provided to candidates must be equal with the time they receive from public mass-media, Romanian news agency Mediafax informs.
Additionally, the Government decided on Wednesday that the first presidential voting tour to take place on November 22. Another emergency ordinance states that surveys with electoral character distributed during the campaign for the presidential elections can be done under certain restrictions.
Regardless of the entity that requested the surveys, they cannot be made public unless the institutions who order them is made public, as well as the period when a survey was carried out, the number of subjects included, the maximum error rate and the entity who paid for the survey. Plus, the surveys cannot be released 48 hours before the voting day.
