Emil Boc: Nabucco is chief for Romania, but we'll consider other options as well

Nabucco gas pipe project remains Romania’s priority when it comes to gas, but Bucharest will analyse with great interest any other initiative which could contribute the country and EU’s energy security, Romanian Prime minister Emil Boc declared on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, before leaving for Budapest, where he attends a reunion discussing energy security.

„The Nabucco project represents our priority in regards to natural gas, but we will analyse with interest any other initiative which could contribute to Romania and EU’s energy security”, the PM stated, quoted by Romanian news agency Agerpres.

PM Emil Boc will have been invited by his Hungarian homologue Gordon Bajnai for discussions to Romania’s Western neighbour state. His visit will last for two days.

the Romanian PM will take part in Budapest in the Visegrad Countries Summit on Energy Security, and in the Danube Summit. he will also meet Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom, main opposition party FIDESZ leader Viktor Orban and Serbian PM Mirko Cvetkovic.

The main issues subjected to debates at the summit target natural gas and oil supply and transit, the European Union’s response mechanism, electricity and natural gas inter-connections, according to Boc.

After the Budapest meetings, Emil Boc will make an official visit to Bulgaria, at the invitation of his homologue Boiko Borisov. The visit is scheduled for February 25 and 26.
