Euro zone: 1.2% inflation in February compared to 1.1% in January
Euro zone inflation rose in February up to 1.2% from 1.1% in January and thus offered the European Central Bank reasons to reduce intervention interest rates, according to the first official estimations presented by Eurostat, the European Statistics Institute, quoted by AFP.
ECB aims, in the medium term, for an inflation below 2% as it has supplementary limits to reduce taxes: a final decision could be taken on Thursday, analysts read. Inflation dropped below 4% last summer due to both oil quotations that decreased notably and the moderate economic activities registered ever since.
