The European Anti-Fraud Office launched an investigation in the case involving the three MEPs accused of bribe taking including Romanian MEP Adrian Severin. The offices of the tree MEPs involved in the scandal were sealed to protect evidence, according to Romanian daily Evenimentul Zilei.

A security guard has been posted to protect the office while Severin was given other office to use. EP President Jerzy Buzek said on Thursday night that he informed Severin that the best solution in this case is for him to resign. Buzek said in a press conference that if Severin wants to clear his name then he has to leave justice take its course.

OLAF investigators were at first forbidden to enter Severin’s office because EP security did not know whether the investigation can be undertaken by OLAF or by national investigators, Financial Times reads.
