Anghel Rugina, the famous American economist, of Romanian origin, died at 95. Sources close to the family declared for HotNews.ro that he passed away in a hospital in the US. The famous economist was known to the Romanians right after the collapse of the Communist regime when he sustained the idea of a new economic reform by introducing a silver currency.
Rugina was born in Vizuresti, in Galati South East Romania in a modest family. He worked with famous Romanian and foreign academics, from Nicolae Iorga, Virgil Madgearu to Walter Eucken. He published over 50 works on the state of the world economy, and became widely known.
