Favorable verdict for Romania at the International Court of Justice: Serpent's Island is not an island, but a rock
The Serpent’s Island will not be considered as a basic point when the delimitation line with be drawn which means that the island will not be considered a shore of Ukraine, as Kiev wanted to, the International Court of Justice President Rosalyn Higgins informed, according to NewsIn. According to the Court, Ukraine is not entitled to more than 12 miles of maritime territory.
The Court will shortly announce its decision regarding the territorial delimitation dispute between Romania and Ukraine. The dispute regards the delimitation of 12,000 km of continental plateau and the exclusive economic area representing important natural resources: 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 10 million tons of oil.
