Romania won the World Fencing Championship after a match against Italy at Antalya, Turkey. The defeat was regretted by Italians, who declared that they are disappointed because they lost the first position even though they were leading most of the match, Italian daily Corriere dello Sport reads.
Italians lead most of the game, the biggest difference between the two was of nine points but Romanians gained ground through Rares Dumitrescu. The Romanian won against Italian Aldo Montano.
It is worth mentioning that this is the first world championship won by Romania in an Olympic sport in 2009.
