Finance ministry representatives confirm: the 600 million dollar debt of KazMunaiGaz to the Romanian state is in the state budget, as revenues, in 2010
Rompetrom’s historical debts to the Romanian state, taken over by KazMunaiGaz, estimated at 600 million dollars are considered, through the IMF agreement, state revenues for 2010, governmental sources declared for HotNews.ro. In his electoral campaign, PM Boc declared that businessman Dinu Patriciu is involved in the electoral struggle because under a Social Democratic and a Liberal government, he would be able to postpone its debts.
President Basescu is scheduled to visit Kazakhstan on March 2-3. According to sources, he is due to meet KazMunaiGaz representatives.
The problem of the debt to the Romanian state was discussed at the last meeting in January with IMF officials and representatives of the government. Romanian businessman Dinu Patriciu sold in June 2009 the rest of the shares it held at Rompetrol Group to KazMunaiGaz. In 2007, KazMunaiGaz purchased 75% of the shares for 1.6 billion dollars. The deals of the transaction are not clear because the details were not made public.
During the electoral campaign, PM Boc suggested that Dinu Patriciu has every interest to see Social Democrats and Liberals govern because he has more chances to see the debt decreased or recalculated.
