Former PM Adrian Nastase sent to court

Romanian former Prime Minister Adrian Nastase will face court trial in the „Quality Trophy” file. The National Anti-Graft (DNA) prosecutors accuse Nastase of using his influence in order to obtain illicit funds or goods. It is the second time Nastase is sent to court, one of the attempts being blocked by the Parliament. For the deeds questioned in the current file, prosecutors didn’t need the Parliaments’ approval, since they allegedly took place while Nastase was not a member of the Government.
The trial will begin on February 26, the main accusation being of illegally obtaining money for his 2004 electoral campaign.
On his personal blog, Nastase considers that the accusations are put up using „schemes worth a dime”.
