Gazprom head: Ukraine refuses to sign memorandum on gas transit monitoring

HotNews.ro

Ukraine refused to sign the memorandum allowing an official group to monitor the transit of Russia natural gas towards Europe, the Gazprom president, Aleksey Miller, announced, quoted by Ria Novosti. The Naftogaz head, Oleg Dubina, previously declared that Ukraine guarantees the transit, in case Russia restarts deliveries, AFP adds.

Ukraine previously announced that it signed an agreement with the European Union, so that EU observers could monitor the gas transit towards Europe, but the statement was contradicted by the Gazprom boss, Aleksey Miller. The government in Kiev even declared that the observers were expected to arrive on Friday in Kiev.

Gazprom and Naftogaz chiefs were negotiating on Thursday in Brussels, in search for a solution to the natural gas crisis.
