Georgia: 50,000 people protest, Opposition demands president to resign
At least 50,000 people participate in a street protest in Georgia, protesting against president Mikhail Saakasvili, AFP informs. The protesters demand Saakasvili’s resignation and early elections. The people accuse the unbearable living conditions and the constant breaking of human rights.
Last night, tens of Opposition militants were arrested, in order to be prevented from participating in the meeting today. The Police in Tbilisi denied the information, claiming that only four arrests were conducted during the past few days, none of them involving any politicians.
The protest in Tbilisi is expected to gather at least 100,000 people today.
