The German Labor Minister, Olaf Scholz, declared on Friday that he is in favor of maintaining the restrictions Germany imposed East European workers for the labor market until 2011, NewsIn informs. “We will be extremely cautious with the way the labor market evolves. After all, we still have 3 million people unemployed”, said the official.

“I believe we want to postpone the market opening until 2011, even though the subject was not officially opened”, said Scholz for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Germany obtained in 2004, along with the first wave of newcomers in the EU, the right to restrict the access of new workers on the market, until 2009. Still, authorities in BErlin have the possibility to demand EU to postpone the deadline until 2011.
