HotNews.ro

The Italian Government adopted a set of laws designed to limit the illegal immigration. According to the new decrees, those who are found staying illegally in Italy risk sentences between 6 months and 4 years in jail. The decree will become law in case it is adopted in Parliament. The discussions on the new law are scheduled for July.

According to Corriere della Sera, the decree include the clandestine entry on Italian soil as aggravating circumstance for those found guilty of other crimes as well, and adds to the sentence for a crime another third of the penalty.

The expelling from Italy will take place in case of a conviction of at least two years in jail. Meanwhile, Police officers involved in annihilating the organized crime within immigrant groups will be awarded.

The measures are targeted at immigrants who commit crimes in Italy and do not have a monthly income. On the other hand, the European Commission condemns any king of violence aimed at Roma minority members and demands guarantees for their personal safety, also asking for the Roma minority not to be assimilated to a crime-related group.
