Macovei accuses Justice Ministry of slanderous campaign

Former Justice Minister Monica Macovei claims that the Justice Minister fuels Justice Ministry fuels a slanderous political campaign against her by erasing her wealth statement from the institution’s website. Macovei considers that the decision took by the Ministry comes against the legal provisions and constitutes an abuse.

„I submitted my wealth statement the minute my mandate ended, on April 5, 2007. Recently I realized the previous wealth statements and the final statement, all recorded by the institution’s secretary general, were erased from the website. The final statement appeared today”.

Monica Macovei explained why the gesture is against the existing laws and publicly demanded explanations from the present Justice Minister, Tudor Chiuariu. According to the way the minister will respond, Macovei will decide on the possibility to open a legal action.
