Mayors in the country: Iasi – Gheorghe Nichita, Galati – Dumitru Nicolae, Vaslui – Vasile Paval, Bistrita – Ovidiu Cretu, Bacau – Romeo Stavarache
We already know some of the candidates who secured their seats in the second round of local elections organized across Romania this Sunday. The battle was tight and according to estimates, some candidates distanced from their counter-candidates by only some hundreds of votes.
Here are some results from across the country:
Iasi – Gheorghe Nichita (PSD) – 54.1%, Dumitru Oprea (PD-L) – 45.9%
Galati – Dumitru Nicolae (PSD) – 71.19%, Andrei Lisinschi – 28.11%
Vaslui – Vasile Paval (PSD) – 56%, Corneliu Mihalache – 44%
Bistrita – Ovidiu Cretu (PSD) – 54.75%, Vasile Moldovan – 45.25%
Lugoj – Francisc Constantin Boldea (PSD) won over PD-L candidate Marius Martinescu with a difference of only 100 votes.
Caracal – incumbent , PSD member Gheorghe Anghel, won against PD-L member Nicu Vlad with about 800 votes.
Corabia – Gheorghe Barbu (PSD) won in the detriment of Stefan Parlea (PDL) with over 500 votes.
Sf. Gheorghe – Antal Arpad (UDMR) – 55.64%, Csinta Samu – 44.36%
Gheorgheni – Mezei Janos – 53%, Weil Gyula – 47%
Intorsura Buzaului – Leca Bancila (PSD) beats Democrat Liberal Gheroghe Baciu by several hundred votes.
Bacau – Romeo Stavarache (PNL)- 74.33%, Sergiu Sechelariu – 25.77%
Braila – Aurel Simionescu (PSD) – 59.60%, Sever Cibu – 40.40%
Resita – Mihai Stefanescu – 74.47%, Tiberiu Padurean – 22.53%
Calarasi – Nicolae Dragu – 65.59%, Constantin Tudor – 34.41%
Ploiesti – Liviu Volosevici (PD-L)- 61.47%, Daniel Savu – 38.53%
