Romania local elections: Vasile Blaga claims 33% of votes for Bucharest mayor, independent Sorin Oprescu – 30%

Democrat-Liberal (PD-L) candidate Vasile Blaga will face independent Sorin Oprescu in a second round of elections for Bucharest mayor after they received 33% and 30% respectively in local elections on Sunday, June 1, according to an exit-poll by pollster CCSB for Antena 3 news television.

UPDATE: According to another exit-poll, by INSOMAR, the results of which were announced by Realitatea TV news station, Blaga received 31.5%, while Oprescu received 30.5%

The CCSB exit-poll results

For Bucharest mayor:

Vasile Blaga (PD-L) – 33%, Sorin Oprescu (independent) – 30%, Cristian Diaconescu (Social Democrats – PSD) – 11%, Ludovic Orban (governing Liberals – PNL) – 13%.

For Bucharest district mayors:

  • District 1: Andrei Chiliman – 38%, Razvan Murgeanu – 37%, Dan Tudorache – 16%.
  • District 2: Necolai Ontanu – 57% (elected), Daniel Cezar Ionescu – 21%, Robert Ionescu – 10%, Dragos Dinca – 7%.
  • District 3: Liviu Negoita (elected) – 84%, Teodora Bertzi – 4%.
  • District 4: Cristian Popescu „Piedone” – 35%, Radu Silaghi – 26%, Vasile Mihalache – 14%, Andrei Petrescu – 7%, Adrian Inimaroiu – 7%.
  • District 5: Marian Vanghelie – 40%, Sebastian Bodu – 27%, Mihai Bogdan Becheanu – 15%, Cristian Banu – 10%.
  • District 6: Cristian Poteras – 39%, Dan Alexandru Darabont – 28%, Antonel Tanase – 17%. 

Results for Bucharest General Council:

  • PDL 39
  • PSD 25
  • PNL 15
  • PNG – 5
  • PIN – 4

The results means that the New Generation Party led by businessman Gigi Becali would get access to the Bucharest City Council.

According to an exit-poll produced by pollster INSOMAR for Realitatea TV news station, results for the Bucharest City Council look as follows:

  • PDL – 36.5%, PSD – 25.7%, PNL – 15.5%, PNG – 5.7%, PIN – 4.3%

The INSOMAR results for Bucharest district mayors:

  • District 1: Andrei Chiliman – 38.6%, Razvan Murgeanu – 35.5%
  • District 2: Nicolae Ontanu 52.8%, D. Ionescu 22.1%
  • District 3: Liviu Negoita 75.2%, Doru Giugula 10.2%
  • District 4: Cristian Popescu „Piedone” 35.8%, Radu Silaghi 28%
  • District 5: Marian Vanghelie 41.5%, Sebastian Bodu 22.5%
  • District 6: Cristian Poteras 34.2%, Dan Darabont 31.1%

Yet another exit-poll by pollster ATLE for B1 TV says Vasile Blaga received 32.36% of the votes, followed by Sorin Oprescu with 26.7%.
