Romania names new ambassador in Paris
President Traian Basescu signed on Wednesday the decree that nominates Teodor Baconschi as Romanian ambassador in France. Baconschi is currently a presidential counselor and has experience in diplomacy after representing Romania as ambassador to Vatican and Portugal.
Basescu also named ambassadors for the Guinea Republic, Bahrain, Oman and Montenegro.
44-year old Teodor Baconschi is a career diplomat. Among his many accomplishments, the most preeminent was to arrange the visit of Pope John Paul II to Romania. Some say he was the Pope’s favorite ambassador.
