Romania received a first 1.5 billion euro installment from the European Commission

Romania received the first 1.5 billion euro instalment from the European Commission, from the 5 billion euro loan agreed in May, a press release of the European Commission informs. The second instalment is due in the last quarter of the year and will amount to 1 billion euro but the money will be released if Romania will comply with the conditions set by the EC agreement.

The EC loan targets Romania’s balance of payments. The aid confirms EU’s commitment to support EU member states to overcome the crisis.
