Romanian Embassy in Tripoli attempts to help nine Romanians abandoned by their Italian employer in Libya
A group of nine Romanian workers were abandoned without passports in Libya by their employer. Currently, the Romanian Embassy in Tripoli is trying to help the citizens return home, Romanian Foreign Affairs ministry announced this weekend, quoted by news agency Mediafax.
According to quoted sources, the Romanian Embassy has been in contact with the nine workers for over a month now, trying to clarify their legal situation and help them return back home. The Foreign Affairs ministry announces that according to the Libyan legislation, foreign citizens need exit visas from immigration authorities which are only offered at the request or approval of the employer that initially requested the visa for them.
The Foreign Affairs ministry underlines that the Embassy is in permanent contact with the nine Romanian citizens and is currently offering them consular help.
