Romanian occupancy and unemployment rates drop
The occupancy rate among Romanians aged 15-64 reached 60.5% in the third quarter of 2007, witnessing an increase compared to the previous quarter, National Statistics Institute data shows. In the same time, unemployment rates fell by 0.5% as compared to the previous quarter and registered a 1% increase as compared to the same quarter in 2006. The highest unemployment rate is registered among youngsters.
According to the data available, in the third quarter of 2007, the active population amounts to 10.3 million persons out of which some 614,000 are unemployed, the International Labor Office informs.
Moreover, the occupancy rate of the population aged 15 to 64 is higher than the rates registered in the previous quarter. The rate is higher for men 66.5% as compared to 54.5% for women.
